I'd like to add my compliments and accolades to those who have already commended Gary and his coworkers/contributors.
Their "comeback" issue is a handsomely produced and designed treasure. As the initial text alternates between press and fan quotes, the reader is offered proof-positive that popular affection held for Judyis a long-time, long-term matter...and not subject to the uninformed material put forward by others, both during and after her passing. The monumental number of new and/or unfamiliar photographs make for a quick but comprehensive walk through dozens of the personal and professional highlights of the Garland timeline. And the quiet enthusiasms that permeate every page make gentle but definite strides toward that plateau of respect and compassion that so many of us feel is her due -- just in sheer gratitude for all she gave and continues to give.
I've always thought that Lorna Smith understood Judy as well as anyone -- and better than most. Her grasp and detailed accounts of the Garland persona, from 1957-1969, have served for decades as a template for those who want to know "what was Judy really like." Additionally, the fact that Judy both liked and trusted Lorna made for an increasing bond between the two -- and I think we're fortunate indeed to have the stories of their time together. Certainly the writings of Lorna and a handful of others who spent both performing and private occasions with Judy have informed the writings and "take" of many of us who have journalistically followed in their footsteps.
So hallelujah, huzzah, hooray, and (as Judy would have put it) hoohah! And thanks to Justin and all the other behind-the-scenes individuals who have supported Gary in this resurgence...and the latest in his own extraordinary published output on Judy's behalf.
